Welcome to the Saturday before Thanksgiving. For those of you who are cooking this year, I trust you're going through the end of the week preparing and getting sorted out. Which will make your Thanksgiving Day substantially more calm. You'd believe that is the thing that I would do, however rather I am going through the end of the week working ceaselessly and following none of my own recommendation. Run of the mill.
The other uplifting news is that I have my menu set. Also, since I've just tried it many occasions over for the blog, I'm not very pushed. As a matter of fact, I'm particularly anticipating cooking throughout the day on Thanksgiving. There will be no agonizing over testing new plans or taking photographs. Wanting to heat a couple of pies with my mother, stir up mixed drinks for siblings, and simply hang with my family. It's been constant recently, so I'm truly anticipating a day with loved ones.

CHAI SIMPLE SYRUP
- 4 chai tea bags
- 1/3 cup real maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
CHAI OLD FASHIONED
- 2 ounces (1/4 cup) bourbon
- 1 ounce lemon juice
- 1 dash orange bitters
- 1-2 ounces (2-4 tablespoons) chai tea syrup
- sparkling water, for topping
- cinnamon and star anise, for serving (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
CHAI SIMPLE SYRUP
- In a medium pot, bring 1 cup water to a boil. Remove from the heat, add the chai tea bags, cover and steep 10-15 minutes. Remove the tea bags and add the maple. Bring to a boil over high heat. Boil 3-5 minutes, then remove from the heat. Stir in the vanilla. Let cool. Keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
OLD FASHIONED
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, lemon juice, orange bitters, and 2 tablespoons of the chai syrup. Shake to combine.
- Strain into a glass. If desired top with sparkling water. Garnish with cinnamon and star anise
